That Funky Shop grew from Sadie’s lifelong love of vintage and objects from the past. Raised on the outskirts of Dartmoor, she started selling at markets with her dad from a young age, developing a particular interest in the design of the second half of the 20th century.
What began as a hobby eventually became a full-time occupation, taking Sadie from running her own shop in Ewell, Surrey, to travelling the country trading at vintage fairs and festivals.
Her tastes span the decades rather than following one particular period, with pieces chosen for their design, character and the stories they carry. For Sadie, the pleasure is as much in finding and sharing those objects as it is in selling them — seeing a piece she loves leave for a new home is still one of the best parts of the job.
